About the Slender Westringia
The slender westringia is a thin shrub that can grow up to 1.5 meters (about 5 feet) tall. It has small leaves that are about 8 to 20 millimeters long (less than an inch). These leaves are narrow, only about 0.8 to 1.6 millimeters wide. They have tiny hairs on both sides and grow in groups of three or four around the stem.
What Do Its Flowers Look Like?
The flowers of the slender westringia can be purple, mauve, lilac, or white. You can see these pretty flowers throughout the entire year, no matter the season.
Where Does It Grow?
This plant naturally grows in several Australian states. You can find it in Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales.
It often grows near other interesting plants. Some of these include Calytrix tetragona, and different types of Acacia, Daviesia, Leptospermum, Leucopogon, and Triodia species.
How Was It Discovered?
Scientists officially described this plant species in 1834. The description was based on plants collected by a botanist named Allan Cunningham.
