Shipwrecks of the Past
The waters around the Small Isles have seen some history. In the 1800s, two sailing ships were wrecked here.

In December 1858, a ship called the Agnes was wrecked. It was a type of sailing ship known as a sloop. The Agnes was about 12 meters (39 feet) long. It was 4 meters (13 feet) wide.
The Thistle Shipwreck
Another sloop, named the Thistle, was wrecked on February 1, 1864. This ship was built in 1827. It was a bit larger than the Agnes. The Thistle was 16 meters (52 feet) long and 5 meters (16 feet) wide. Luckily, the crew of the Thistle was saved!
