Smock is a small community in Pennsylvania, United States. It is not an official city or town, but it is recognized as a census-designated place. This means it has clear borders for counting people.

Smock is located in Fayette County. It sits between two larger places: Perryopolis and Uniontown. Smock is also considered part of the larger Pittsburgh metropolitan area. In 2010, about 583 people lived there.

History of Smock

The community of Smock got its name from a person named Samuel Smock. He was the first owner of the land where the community was built.

Geography and Location

Smock is located along a stream called Redstone Creek. This creek acts as a natural border between two areas: Franklin Township and Menallen Township.

A major road, Pennsylvania Route 51, runs along the eastern side of Smock. This four-lane highway helps people travel easily. If you go north on Route 51 for about 7 miles, you will reach Perryopolis. If you go south for about 8 miles, you will get to Uniontown. Uniontown is the main city in Fayette County.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that Smock covers a total area of 4.0 square kilometers (about 1.5 square miles). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.
