Snorri Þorbrandsson facts for kids
Snorri Þorbrandsson (also known as Snorri Thorbrandsson) was a brave Icelandic warrior from the 900s. We learn about his life mostly from old stories called the Icelandic sagas. These sagas are like historical tales from long ago.
Snorri is an important character in the Icelandic story called Eyrbyggja saga. He grew up in a place called Álftafjörður in western Iceland. He was a very close friend, like a "blood-brother," to Snorri goði. He also fought alongside another famous explorer, Þorfinnr Karlsefni.
After a small fight where he got a bit hurt and was declared an "outlaw" (meaning he had to leave his home), Snorri decided to travel. He went to Greenland with his brother, Thorleif Kimbi. Sadly, Snorri died in a battle there. This battle was against people the Norse explorers called skrælings, who were the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. This happened during Karlsefni's big trip to a new land called Vinland.
