Snowsnaps (which is called Les Mini-Tuques in French, meaning "The Mini Toques") is a fun Canadian animated TV show. It uses CGI to bring its characters to life. This show is a spinoff from the 2015 movie Snowtime!. That movie was a remake of an older live-action film from 1984 called The Dog Who Stopped the War. Snowsnaps is made for younger kids, especially those in preschool. It was created by Carpediem Film & TV, along with Singing Frog Studio and Corus Entertainment. The show first aired in Canada on September 1, 2018, on channels like Télétoon, La Chaîne Disney, and Treehouse TV.

What the Show is About
The show follows four friends: Violet, Tomas, Sami, and Kiki. For them, every day is an adventure filled with games and laughter! They absolutely love playing outside, especially when it's snowy. Even though they are only six years old, they can turn any task into a game. They use their amazing imaginations to jump into different roles and try exciting new things. Join these four friends as they explore, laugh, and have a blast!
Meet the Characters
Let's get to know the main characters of Snowsnaps:
- Violet (voiced by Satine Scarlett Montaz) – Violet is the leader when it comes to games. She thinks freely and doesn't just follow what everyone else does. She's very clever and determined, sometimes a little bit cheeky! But her games are never mean. If she gets into trouble, it's usually because she's super excited, not because she wants to cause harm. She loves anything sparkly or pink!
- Tomas (voiced by Brandon Lising) – Tomas is a kind and open-hearted friend. He is very generous and always sees both sides of an argument. He's a natural peacemaker and doesn't like conflict at all. His favorite toy is a penguin named Terry.
- Sami (voiced by Kimia Esfahani) – Sami acts like he knows everything, but he often doesn't! He loves to give long, funny explanations, especially if they are weird or unexpected. He enjoys being silly and playing the "Fool." His favorite snacks are Brussels sprouts and broccoli!
- Kiki (voiced by Ella Rose Coderre) – Kiki is a brave daredevil who loves to move and be active. When she's not sure what to do, she just acts first and thinks later. She always wants to win, even if she's not the best at something. She keeps trying until she succeeds! You can always count on Kiki to be ready to play.

Here are the talented people who give voices to the characters:

How the Show Was Made
Plans for a Snowtime! spinoff for younger kids were first announced in November 2015. The show, Snowsnaps, was officially shown to the public at the Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, France, in 2016. It was the first time a Canadian show was presented there! The series can be watched as 26 episodes that are 11 minutes long, or as 52 shorter episodes that are 5 minutes long.
For the special musical parts called "Shortsnaps," the creators looked for singers who could sing in both English and French. They held auditions across Canada in July 2017.
Episodes
Season 1 (2018)
The first season of Snowsnaps has 26 episodes. It started on September 1, 2018, and ended on November 25, 2018.
Some of the episodes were even turned into books! These include "1-2-3, Cupcake!", "The Monster", "The Maze", "Knighthood", "What's Your Treasure?", "Winter Games", "Kids vs. Aliens", and "Sami's Pet".
Each episode is actually two shorter stories combined. Here are a few examples:
- Dunk Master / Snoweo Rodeo (September 1, 2018): Kiki shows off her basketball skills to rescue Terry the penguin. Later, Sami saves the day at a snow rodeo.
- 1-2-3 Cupcake! / The Haunted Forest (September 2, 2018): A crazy race decides who gets Violet's cupcake. Then, the friends investigate a mysterious creature in the forest.
- When Toys Attack / Snow Ballet (September 8, 2018): Sami thinks toys are following him. Violet wants Tomas to be her snow prince in her ballet.
- Winter Games / Cold Tows (September 9, 2018): The bobsleigh team tries to find Violet's missing groceries. Sami pretends to be too cold so his friends will pull him home.
- What's Your Treasure? / The Monster (September 15, 2018): Violet plays pirate, leading to a mutiny. The gang investigates a half-eaten frozen apple in their ice fort.
Shortsnaps Songs
The "Shortsnaps" are musical segments in the show. The songs were written by Eloi Painchaud and Jorane, and sung by a group called Cool Kids. These songs are played throughout the episodes. There are six main songs that you'll hear often when watching the show. They were directed by Claude Precourt, Robert Yates, and Vanessa Isabelle, with choreography by Louis-Martin Charest.
Here are the titles of the songs:
