Sofia Milos (born September 27, 1969) is a Swiss-born actress with Italian and Greek roots. She is most famous for playing Detective Yelina Salas in the popular TV show CSI: Miami.
Milos has also appeared in many other well-known television series. She played a crime boss named Annalisa Zucca on The Sopranos. She also had roles in hit shows like Friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and ER.
Early Life and Education
Sofia Milos was born in Zürich, Switzerland. Her father was from Italy and her mother was from Greece. When she was a child, her family moved to Rome, the capital of Italy.
At age 14, she entered a local beauty pageant. She won first place and went on to win bigger contests, eventually earning the title of Junior Lady Italy.
To prepare for her future, Milos studied business and economics at a school in Switzerland. Later, she moved to the United States and studied acting at the famous Beverly Hills Playhouse with acting coach Milton Katselas. Milos has said that she can speak seven languages fluently.
Acting Career
Milos began her career as a professional model when she was 15 years old. She used the money she earned to pay for her education.
Her first role in a movie was in an independent film called Inside Out, where she acted alongside stars Kris Kristofferson and Lesley-Anne Down. She made her television debut soon after in the comedy show Café Americain. This was the start of a long and successful career in film and television.
