Sofia Province is a special region in Bulgaria. It's like a big county or state. Even though the big city of Sofia is its main office, Sofia city itself is not part of the province.
This province is very large, covering about 7,020 square kilometers. It is the second-largest province in all of Bulgaria. The area is known for its beautiful mountains. You can find parts of the Stara Planina, Sredna Gora, and Rila mountain ranges here. The Iskar River, which is the longest river completely within Bulgaria, starts in the Rila Mountains.
