Sonexay Siphandone (Lao: ສອນໄຊ ສີພັນດອນ) was born on January 26, 1966. He is a politician from Laos. Since December 30, 2022, he has been serving as the Prime Minister of Laos.
He is a member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP). Before becoming Prime Minister, he was the Deputy Prime Minister from 2016 to 2022. Sonexay Siphandone is the son of Khamtai Siphandone, who was also a very important leader in Laos. His sister is Viengthong Siphandone.

Sonexay Siphandone has been involved in the government of Laos for many years. He has held several important positions.
Joining the Central Committee
In 2006, Sonexay Siphandone was chosen to be part of the LPRP Central Committee. This happened at the 8th National Congress. The Central Committee is a group of important leaders who help guide the country.
Becoming a Deputy Prime Minister
Later, in 2016, he was elected to the LPRP Politburo at the 10th National Congress. The Politburo is an even smaller, very powerful group within the party. From 2016 to 2022, he served as the Deputy Prime Minister. In this role, he helped the Prime Minister manage the country.
Becoming Prime Minister of Laos
On December 30, 2022, the parliament of Laos voted to approve Sonexay Siphandone as the new Prime Minister. He received a large number of votes, with 149 out of 151 members agreeing. As Prime Minister, he is now the head of the government in Laos.
