Sori's Journey in Music and Acting
Early Life and Starting Out (1990–2014)
Kim So-ri was born in Mapo District, Seoul, South Korea. When she was a teenager, she moved to Japan for high school. There, she became a cheerleader, which made her want to perform on stage. After three years of college, Sori returned to South Korea. She wanted to become a singer and joined Mol Entertainment in 2013. That same year, she appeared in a music video for a song called "B.I.K.I.N.I." In 2014, she started acting in the TV show Hi! School: Love On, playing a high school student.
Joining CocoSori and Real Girls Project (2016–2018)
After three years of training, Sori debuted as part of the duo CocoSori on January 4, 2016. Their first song was "Dark Circle." People compared their style to another girl group, Crayon Pop, because of their fun music videos.
Sori also joined a project girl group called Real Girls Project. This group debuted with the song "Dream" on August 24, 2016. Sori was also a main actress in the TV show The Idolmaster KR, which was based on a video game. The show started on April 28, 2017, and had twenty-four episodes.
Sori competed in a TV show called Mix Nine. She finished in seventh place among many female contestants. This meant she could join a new girl group. However, the girl group did not get to debut. During this time, Sori released a song called "To Myself" on November 5, 2017.
Beginning Her Solo Music Career (2018–2020)
Sori announced she would start her solo career on July 31, 2018. She used a website called Makestar to raise money for her first solo song. Fans helped her raise over $20,000. Her first solo song, "Touch", came out on September 4, 2018. It featured the rapper Basick. The song's music video was also released that day. Sori performed "Touch" for the first time at a special event in Seoul. The song did well and reached number 49 on a music chart in South Korea. She also released a Japanese version of "Touch" on November 14, 2018.
To fund her next song, Sori started another project on Kickstarter in December 2018. She raised over ¥3,000,000 (about $20,000 USD). Her second song, "I'm Ready", featuring Jaehyun, was released on December 26, 2018. The music video for "I'm Ready" came out before the song. Sori promoted the song in January 2019. She also released "I'm Ready" in Japan on February 8, 2019. She held her first fan meeting in Japan on February 11, 2019.
After CocoSori broke up in March 2019, Sori became a host for a TV show segment called Sori Action. She also appeared in a travel show about Japan.
