Soum de Ramond, also called Pico de Añisclo, is a tall mountain in the Pyrenees mountain range. It stands 3,263 metres (about 10,705 feet) high. This mountain is located in northern Spain, in a region called Aragon. It is part of a famous group of three peaks known as Las Tres Sorores, which means "The Three Sisters". The other two peaks in this group are Monte Perdido and Cilindro de Marboré.
Where is Soum de Ramond Located?
This mountain is found in the Monte Perdido area. It sits between three beautiful valleys: the Ordesa Valley, the Añisclo Canyon, and the Pineta Valley. All these areas are part of the amazing Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. This park is a protected place with stunning natural beauty.
How Did Soum de Ramond Get Its Name?
The mountain has two main names. Its Spanish and Aragonese name, "Pico Anyisclo", comes from the nearby Añisclo Valley. This valley is also in the Aragonese Pyrenees.
Later on, the mountain was named "Soum de Ramond". This name honors a French person named Louis Ramond de Carbonnières. He was a very interesting person who worked as a politician, and also studied geology (the science of rocks and the Earth) and botany (the science of plants).
