The South Otselic Historic District is a special area in South Otselic, located in Chenango County, New York. It's like a time capsule, showing how the town used to look. This district has 60 important buildings that tell stories about the past.

Exploring South Otselic's History
The South Otselic Historic District covers the oldest part of the hamlet. It shows how the community grew over time. Many buildings here are from the 1800s. They have different styles, like Late Victorian.
Notable Buildings to Discover
Several buildings in the district are very interesting. They each have their own history.
- The Methodist Church was built around 1867. It has been a place for people to gather for over 150 years.
- The Gladding Corporation factory and office dates back to 1895. This company was important for local jobs.
- The J. Brown Grist Mill is one of the oldest buildings, from about 1810. A grist mill grinds grain into flour.
- Noonan's Blacksmith Shop was built in 1870. Blacksmiths used to make and repair metal tools.
- The Dew Drop Building was built in 1896. Today, it serves as the local post office.
Special Homes in the District
There are also some unique homes in the historic district.
- The Octagon House was built around 1860. It's called that because it has eight sides!
- The Former Gladding Mansion is a beautiful home from about 1880. It was built in the Queen Anne style, which means it has lots of fancy details.
The Story of the Cox Block
The Cox Block was a building from 1890. Sadly, it was destroyed by a fire on December 14, 2014. The fire started in one of the apartments on the first floor.
