The South Province (in French, province Sud) is one of three main areas in New Caledonia. It covers the southern and southwestern parts of the main island of New Caledonia.

The South Province is the most developed and city-like part of New Caledonia. It is also the most developed area in the entire Melanesian region. Unlike other parts of New Caledonia, people of Melanesian heritage do not make up the largest group here.

The main government offices for the South Province are in Nouméa. This city is the capital of New Caledonia.

However, some French government offices are in La Foa. This town was chosen to balance the power of Nouméa. These offices handle local matters for the province. Other French government offices in Nouméa manage issues for all of New Caledonia.
