History of South Webster
South Webster was officially planned out by a person named John Bennett in 1853. The village was given its name in honor of Daniel Webster, a famous American statesman.

Public Services and Schools
South Webster is home to the Bloom-Vernon Local School District. This district includes Bloom-Vernon Elementary School and South Webster Jr.-Sr. High School. The mascot for South Webster teams is the Jeep.
The school's sports teams have had some great successes!
- The boys' basketball team won the 2006 Ohio High School Athletic Association Division IV State Championship.
- They also made it to the "final four" in 2004.
- In 2014, the 4th Grade Girls' basketball team won the Minford Basketball Tournament.
- The high school volleyball team also made it to the state tournament in 2021.
