Isocoma pluriflora, also known as southern jimmyweed or southern goldenbush, is a type of flowering plant. It is a perennial herb, which means it lives for more than two years. This plant belongs to the sunflower family.

About Southern Jimmyweed

Southern jimmyweed can grow to be about 1 to 3.5 feet (30 to 107 cm) tall. Its leaves are thin and can be up to 2 inches (5 cm) long.

What It Looks Like

This plant produces many bright yellow flowers. These flowers grow in clusters at the top of the stem. Each flower cluster has 8 to 21 small yellow disc flowers. It does not have the larger, petal-like ray flowers that you might see on a typical sunflower.

The name "pluriflora" means "many-flowered." This is because the plant has many stalks, often 25 to 50 of them. Each stalk is topped with a yellow flower head. These stalks grow mostly straight up and are close together.

Where It Grows

Southern jimmyweed is found in North America. It grows in the northern parts of Mexico. These areas include Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Nuevo León.

It also grows in the southwestern and south-central parts of the United States. You can find it in states like Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas.
