How Southworth Creek Got Its Name
Southworth Creek is named after a person named Lewis Southworth. He was an early settler who moved to the area in the 1880s. He was an important part of the community.
The creek used to have a different name. But the Oregon Geographic Names Board was asked to change it. This board helps decide the official names for places in Oregon. They changed the name to Southworth Creek to honor Lewis Southworth and to use a more appropriate name.
