History of Speicherville

How Speicherville Got Its Name

Speicherville was officially planned out in 1881. This process is called "platting," which means someone created a map showing how the land would be divided into lots and streets. A man named Christian W. Speicher was responsible for this plan. The community was then named after him. For a while, people also knew this place by another name, which was Spiker.

The Old Post Office

A post office was opened in Speicherville in 1881. It was known by the name Spiker. This office helped people send and receive mail in the community. However, the post office eventually closed down. It stopped operating in 1913.
