Spit Junction is a busy area located in the suburb of Mosman in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's part of Sydney's Lower North Shore region. The local government that looks after Spit Junction is the Municipality of Mosman.
A Look Back: History of Spit Junction
Back in 1855, two people named E. and W. E. Brady bought about 3.6 hectares (9 acres) of land in this area. For a while, it was used as a "bush racetrack," which means a simple track for horse races in the natural bushland.
Later, in 1902, the land was "subdivided." This means it was split into smaller pieces to be sold for building houses and shops. Before it was called Spit Junction, this area was known as Trafalgar Square. This name came from a group of shops built where Spit Road and Military Road meet.
