The Sports Arena, also called the Tigers Trust Arena, is a cool place for sports and events. It's in Kingston upon Hull, England. You can find it right next to the MKM Stadium. This arena has had a few different names over the years, like the Airco Arena, Bonus Arena, Gemtec Arena, and Vulcan Arena.
What Happens at the Arena?
The Sports Arena was built at the same time as the MKM Stadium. It's a multi-sport center, which means lots of different sports can be played there. Many schools, colleges, and universities in Hull use it.
Sports and Tournaments
The arena is a popular spot for association football (soccer) tournaments. It also hosts other sports events, like The Tigers 5-A-Side Tournament. Until 2012, it was the home court for the Hull Wasps, a basketball team. They played in the NBL Division 4 league.
The Hull Wasps moved to a different center because of higher costs at the Sports Arena. But basketball returned in the 2013–14 season! The Kingston Panthers basketball team made the Sports Arena their new home. The arena is also set up for Team handball games.
Other Events
It's not just for sports! The Sports Arena also hosts many other events. You might find fun fairs or model shows there, like the Fairground model show. It's a busy place with lots going on.
Wrestling Shows
If you like wrestling, you might be interested to know that the Sports Arena is often used for shows by a wrestling group called New Generation Wrestling. They put on exciting events there.
Arena Size
The main hall inside the arena is quite big. It measures 54 metres (177 ft) long and 33 metres (108 ft) wide. The ceiling is 9 metres (30 ft) high, which is great for sports like basketball and handball.
