The Spring River is a small river in Oregon, USA. It is only about 1 mile (1.6 km) long. This short river flows into the Deschutes River. The Spring River is located in Deschutes County.

Where Does the Spring River Flow?

The Spring River starts from a spring near a place called Anns Butte. It then flows mostly towards the northeast. It joins the Deschutes River near Sunriver.

The Deschutes River is much longer. It flows about 190 miles (310 km) from where the Spring River joins it, all the way to the Columbia River. The Spring River is a "tributary," which means it's a smaller stream that flows into a larger river. No other streams flow into the Spring River.

Fish and Wildlife Habitat

Even though the Spring River is small, it is very important for fish. It does not have many fish living in it all the time. However, it is a special place for fish from the Deschutes River.

Fish like rainbow trout and brown trout use the Spring River. They come here to "spawn," which means they lay their eggs. The river also provides a safe place for young fish to grow. This is called "rearing habitat."

Accessing the River

You can visit the lower part of the Spring River. This area is open to the public. It is part of land managed by the United States Forest Service.
