It was on the edge of the settled area, near where York, Pennsylvania is today. This special area was named Springettsbury Manor.

The will of William Penn, the founder, was officially confirmed by a court in 1727. At the time of Springett's death, his family was working on an agreement about how to divide William Penn's estate.
