Springing the Blues is a super cool annual music festival. It happens every year in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. This festival is all about blues music! It's one of the biggest and oldest blues festivals on the East Coast of the United States. The first festival was in 1990. Since then, it has been held every year on the first weekend of April.

History of the Festival
The very first Springing the Blues festival took place in 1991. In 2010, the festival celebrated its 20th birthday! For this special event, they added new things. There was an exhibit at the Beaches Historical Museum. They also held a fun story contest. The best part is that this amazing music event is completely free to attend!
Awesome Performers at the Festival
Many talented musicians have played at Springing the Blues. These artists come from all over to share their blues music. Some famous names include Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks, and Susan Tedeschi. Other great performers like Charlie Musselwhite and JJ Grey & MOFRO have also been there. In April 2022, the Bridget Kelly Band performed. The festival brings together many different blues artists.

- It was named one of the top 50 Music Festivals in the World by DownBeat magazine.
- The SouthEast Tourism Society called it one of the top 20 travel events in the country.
- In 1997, Folio Weekly magazine voted it the "Best Festival in Northeast Florida."
- Sam Veal is the person who started this festival. Springing the Blues was the first festival he ever produced.
