Springport is a small village located in Jackson County, in the state of Michigan, United States. In 2010, about 800 people lived there. The village is part of Springport Township. It is found on M-99, which is a state highway. Springport is about 20 miles (32 km) northwest of a larger city called Jackson. The local school, Springport High School, is also in the village.

About Springport's Location
Springport is a village that covers a total area of about 1.26 square miles (3.26 square kilometers). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large lakes or rivers within the village limits.
Springport's Early Days
Springport was first settled in late 1836 by a man named John Oyer. He came from a place called Cayuga County in New York. John Oyer was very important in helping to set up the local government for the township.
He also built the first store in Springport. Over time, he added several brick stores, a hotel, and even a mill. For many years, people knew the community as "Oyer's Corner." Later, its name was changed to Springport. This new name came from a town in Cayuga County, New York, where John Oyer had lived. The village officially became a town in 1882. At that time, about 600 people lived there.

In 2010, a count of the population showed that 800 people lived in Springport. These people lived in 293 households, and 207 of these were families. The village had about 635 people per square mile (245 people per square kilometer).
Most of the people living in Springport were White (96.1%). A small number were from other groups, including African American, Native American, and Asian backgrounds. About 1.9% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Many households (39.9%) had children under 18 living with them. About 43.3% of households were married couples. Some households (20.8%) had a female head of the house without a husband present. About 9.2% of households had someone aged 65 or older living alone. The average household had 2.73 people.
The average age of people in the village was 33.6 years old. About 29% of residents were under 18. About 10.4% were 65 years old or older. Slightly more than half of the residents (52.8%) were female.

Fun Things to Do in Springport
One popular place in Springport is the Springport Motor Speedway. This is a racing track that was built in 1989. It's a place where people can watch or take part in short track car races. The speedway even has a special class called "Bandeloro" for new and upcoming racers.
