Spurger (/ˈspɜːrɡər/ SPUR-gər) is a small community in southeastern Tyler County, Texas, United States. It is called an unincorporated community because it does not have its own local government like a city or town.

Students in the area attend schools within the Spurger Independent School District.

Spurger's History

People first started settling in the Spurger area around 1834. The community got its name from the Spurger family, who were early landowners there.

A school was built in Spurger in 1859. Later, in 1881, a post office opened, making it easier for people to send and receive mail. The Neches River also flows through this community.
