Srutimala Duara (Assamese: শ্ৰুতিমালা দুৱৰা; born around 1965 – died February 27, 2023) was a talented writer and teacher from Assam, India. She was special because she wrote in two languages: English and Assamese. She wrote many different kinds of books, including novels, short stories, and books especially for children. She also wrote beautiful poems in English. Srutimala Duara was a professor and led the English department at Handique Girls College in Guwahati. In 2021, she received a special honor called the Indian Women Achievers Award in Literature.

About Srutimala Duara's Life
Srutimala Duara wrote many different kinds of books. She published novels, collections of short stories, and books for children. She also wrote essays in both English and Assamese. Besides these, she created six collections of her poems in English.
She was an Associate Professor at Handique Girls College in Guwahati. She was also the head of the English department there. This means she was in charge of teaching English to many students.
Srutimala Duara helped start an important group called the Northeast Writers' Forum. This group supports writers in the Northeast part of India. She was also the secretary and treasurer for this group.

Her writing was also recognized in 2021. She received the Indian Women Achievers Award in Literature from the Asian Literary Society. This award celebrated her important contributions to literature.
