St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church is a very old church located on the Lower Sioux Indian Reservation near Morton, Minnesota. It was built a long time ago, between 1889 and 1891. This church was special because it was built for a group of Dakota people. They were returning home after being away from Minnesota for many years. This happened after a difficult time called the Dakota War of 1862.
The church also shows the important work of the Episcopal Church. They helped Native American communities, and Bishop Henry Benjamin Whipple (who lived from 1822 to 1901) was a big part of this. The church building itself is a great example of Gothic Revival architecture. This is a style of building that looks like old European churches. St. Cornelia's was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. This means it is a very important historical site for its architecture, its connection to early settlements, and its religious history.
