The St. James Theatre was a cool place in Boston, Massachusetts. From 1912 to 1929, it was a popular spot to watch both live plays and movies. It was located in the Back Bay area, on Huntington Avenue. It was right next to another famous building called Horticultural Hall.

A Look at Its History
For several years, a large company called Loew's Theatres ran the St. James. They were known for their many movie theaters and playhouses. In 1929, the St. James Theatre joined another big company. It became part of the Publix chain, which was connected to Paramount Pictures. When this happened, the theatre changed its name to the Uptown Theatre.
