About St. Spyridon Church

The St. Spyridon Church was built in stages starting in 1961. It was designed by M Z Avramidis in a style called Byzantine Basilica. This style often includes twin towers, which you can see on the church. The building was finished in 1974.
Inside the church, you'll find many colourful religious paintings called iconography. These were created by a Greek Orthodox artist named Evangelos Manolios.
Honoring Soldiers
In July 1975, a special plaque was placed at the church. It was unveiled by Sir Roden Cutler, who was the Governor of New South Wales at the time. This plaque remembers Australian and Greek soldiers. It honours those who bravely gave their lives in World War I and World War II.
