History of St David's Church
St David's Church was built a long time ago, between 1902 and 1903. It was designed by a famous team of architects from Chester called Douglas and Minshull. They were known for designing many beautiful buildings.
Church Design and Features
St David's is a smaller church. It has a special rounded area at the end called an apse or apsidal sanctuary. This is where the altar is usually placed. The large window at the front of the church, called the west window, is designed in a style called Perpendicular Gothic. This style uses tall, narrow windows with lots of vertical lines.
On the roof of the church, there is a square tower called a bellcote. It holds the church bell. This bellcote has a pointed, pyramid-shaped roof. On top of that, there is a smaller, eight-sided spire. Inside the church, there is a beautiful screen. This screen was made by a local metalworker named David Jones.
Welsh Language Services
As its name suggests, St David's Welsh Church holds its services in the Welsh language. This is important for the local community. It helps keep the Welsh language alive and strong. People who speak Welsh can come here to worship in their native language.
