St. Lawrence's Church in Gotham, Nottinghamshire, is a very old and important church. It's recognized as a Grade I listed building, which means it's a special historical place. This church is part of the Church of England.

It's one of five churches often called "The 453 Churches" because they are located near the A453 road. The other churches in this group are:

History of St. Lawrence's Church

This church was first built in the 13th century, which means it's over 700 years old! It has been fixed up and improved several times over the years. Major repairs happened in 1789 and again in 1869.

In 1848, a new clock was added to the church tower. A person named Reuben Bosworth designed and built this clock. It cost £70, which was a lot of money back then! The clock had two faces, one pointing towards the town street and the other towards the road leading to Leake.

St. Lawrence's Church is the biggest of "The 453 Churches." In 2010, the inside of the church was changed to make it more flexible. This means it can now be used for many different events throughout the year, not just church services.

People Who Served the Church

Over many centuries, many different people have served as leaders and ministers at St. Lawrence's Church. These people are called incumbents. They have helped guide the church community for hundreds of years. The current minister is Richard Coleman.
