History of St Martin's Church
St Martin's Church first opened its doors in 1937. It was designed by an architect named Edward Heazell. He designed the church in the Byzantine style. This style often uses domes and arches.
The Bishop of Southwell, Henry Mosley, officially opened the church. This special event happened on February 6, 1937.
Today, the church helps the community in many ways. It runs the Nourish Sherwood Project, which provides food. There are also groups for young children and new parents. These include Jolly Tots for Toddlers and Bumps to Babies.
The church holds worship services most Sundays. There are services at 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Sometimes, there is also an "Unplugged worship" service. This usually happens on the fourth Sunday of the month at 6:00 PM.

The Church Organ
St Martin's Church has a large pipe organ. It was put into the church in 1937. The company that installed it was Harrison and Harrison. This organ has an interesting past. It was first installed in another church in 1907. That church was St. Luke's Church in Chelsea.
