St Mary's Church is a special old church building located in Pype Hayes, Birmingham, England. It is part of the Church of England. This church is officially a "Grade II listed" building. This means it's an important historical place that needs to be protected and looked after.
History of the Church
The church was designed by a clever architect named Edwin Francis Reynolds. He drew up the plans in 1927. Building work started in 1929 and finished in 1930. A company called C. Bryant and Son built it. The whole project cost about £20,415. This money came from selling the land of another church in Birmingham, called St Mary's Church, Whittall Street, Birmingham.
In October 1995, St Mary's Church and its hall were officially given "listed status." This helps make sure they are kept safe and looked after for the future.
Something exciting happened in 2022! St Mary's Church joined with another church called Gas Street Church. They formed a new church family together. This new church is now known as Lighthouse Church | St Mary's.
