St Peter's Church, Radford is an Anglican church in Radford, Nottingham. It is located at 171 Hartley Road. This church is a "Grade II listed building." This means it is a special building because of its history or architecture. It's like a protected landmark!

History of St Peter's Church

The original church building was very old, from the Middle Ages. It was taken down to make way for a new one. A new church was built in 1812. The architect who designed it was Henry Moses Wood. The building cost about £2,000 at that time.

Later, in 1871 and 1872, the chancel was rebuilt. The chancel is the part of the church near the altar. This new design was created by architect Richard Charles Sutton. The building work was done by Richard Stevenson and Field Weston. This part of the project cost £1340.

The east window of the church got new stained glass. This beautiful glass was made by Heaton, Butler and Bayne. It shows the crucifixion, which is a scene from the Bible. This window was put in to remember Mr. J. Sherwin Gregory. The new chancel was officially opened on April 25, 1872. Bishop Henry Mackenzie of Nottingham led the special ceremony.

The Church Organ

A new organ was put into the church in 1869. This organ was made by Messrs Bevington and Son. It had two keyboards, called manuals. W. T. Cockrem, who was an organist from another church, played it for the first time on March 21, 1869.

Today, St Peter's Church has a different organ. It is a two-manual pipe organ made by William Andrews. You can find more details about this organ online at the National Pipe Organ Register.
