History of the Church Building
The main part of St Peter and St Paul Church was built in 1844. A famous architect named Lewis Vulliamy designed it. Later, in 1903, more parts were added to the eastern side of the church. These new sections were designed by another well-known architect, Sir Arthur Blomfield.
The church was built because a kind person named Robert Boothby Heathcote wanted to help. He was the rector (a type of priest) at another church nearby, All Saints, Chingford. He saw that his old church was not in good condition. So, he used £5,000 of his own money to build St Peter and St Paul Church. That was a lot of money back then!
