St. Phillip's Anglican Church Kingswood is an Anglican church located in Kingswood, a suburb in Western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. You can find it at the corner of Bringelly Road and Second Avenue. This church was finished in 1896. It's a simple, yet beautiful, building designed in the Gothic Revival style, which was popular in the late-Victorian era. The church is made of brick and includes a main hall (called a nave), a special area for the altar (a chancel), and an entrance area (a porch). Because of its history and design, the church was added to the City of Penrith local government heritage register on December 20, 1991.

History of St. Phillip's Church

In 1897, four pieces of land were given to the people of Kingswood. These lands were meant for building a church and a cemetery. However, the cemetery wasn't needed later because the Penrith Cemetery was already set up.

The main builder for the church was Jack Melville. A local metalworker, James Wainwright, helped by providing the ironwork. The porch you see on the western side of the church was added later on.

The church officially opened its doors in 1898. But it wasn't until 1959 that it was formally consecrated. This means it was officially set aside for sacred use. A hall for the Sunday school was built in 1958, but it has since been taken down.
