Discovering St Tysoi's Church History
The Church of St Tysoi is very old, dating back to the medieval period. It was built using a type of rock called Old Red Sandstone. The church tower might have been added later, possibly in the early 1800s.
Inside the Ancient Church
The church was gently repaired in the 1800s, with some work done by an architect named John Pollard Seddon. Inside, you can see a special ceiling from the 1400s called a "barrel roof" because it looks like the inside of a barrel. There are also other old parts from that time.
The church has some amazing stained glass windows. Some were made in the 1920s, and others are more recent. One window, created by Geoffrey Robinson, is especially famous. It shows scenes from the Genesis with "brilliantly coloured" glass.
