The name "Stacy Fork" comes from a nearby stream also called Stacy Fork. This stream was named after an early settler. His name was Meshack Shadrack Stacy. He lived from 1792 to 1870.
Meshack Stacy was a pioneer. Pioneers were brave people who moved to new lands. He traveled a long way from Tennessee. He came through a famous mountain pass called the Cumberland Gap. This journey happened in the early 1800s. He then settled down in this area, giving his name to the fork and the community.
