Stacy Lattisaw Jackson (born November 25, 1966) is an American R&B singer. She is from Washington, D.C., in the United States.
Stacy Lattisaw's Music Journey
Stacy Lattisaw started her music career at a very young age. When she was just 11 years old, a famous singer and songwriter named Frederick Knight wanted her to join his music company. He even wrote a song called "Ring My Bell" for her. It was meant to be a fun song about kids talking on the phone. However, Stacy signed with a different record label. So, another singer, Anita Ward, sang "Ring My Bell" instead, and it became a huge hit for her.
Stacy recorded her first album when she was only 12 years old in 1979. This album was for Cotillion Records. She worked with a producer named Van McCoy. Later, she started working with Narada Michael Walden, who used to be a drummer. He helped her become even more successful. Under his guidance, Stacy had many hit R&B albums between 1981 and 1986. She even got to open for the Jacksons' big concert tour, the Triumph Tour, in 1981.
During the 1980s and early 1990s, Stacy Lattisaw had several popular R&B songs in the U.S. Her song "Jump to the Beat" was a top 3 hit in the UK in 1980. She also had three songs that did well on the main U.S. music chart: "Let Me Be Your Angel," "Love on a Two-Way Street," and "Miracles."
In 1986, she joined Motown Records, another famous music company. In 1989, she had her only number one R&B hit song. It was a duet with Johnny Gill called "Where Do We Go from Here."
Stacy decided to stop making pop music in 1992. She wanted to focus on raising her family. However, she has continued to sing gospel music since then. Her last time singing on a pop song was in 1994, when she sang background vocals for Tanya Blount's song "Through the Rain." In 2010, a TV show called Unsung told the story of Stacy Lattisaw's music career, and she appeared on the show.
