Tanya Trotter (born Tanya Blount) is an American actress, singer, and author. She started her career as a teenager. Her first big role was in the 1993 movie Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.
After the movie, she released her first album, Natural Thing, in 1994. This album included popular songs like "Through the Rain". Today, Tanya is part of the Grammy-nominated music group The War and Treaty.

Tanya's Career
Tanya first became well-known because of the movie Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993). She played a character named Tanya in the film. A very special moment in the movie was when she sang "His Eye is on the Sparrow" with Lauryn Hill. Many people loved their performance. Tanya also sang on the movie's official soundtrack album.

In 1993, Tanya signed with Polydor Records. Her first album, Natural Thing, came out in 1994. It did well on the US R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Her song "Through the Rain" was a big hit. It was her first song to appear on the US Hot 100 chart. In 1995, Tanya was nominated for a Best New Artist award at the Soul Train Awards.
Later, in 1996, Tanya joined Sean Combs' record label, Bad Boy Entertainment. She started working on her second album there. She also wrote songs for herself and other artists. However, most of her music from this time was not released. Only two songs, "I Love Him" and "The Last Time We ...", were shared with the public.

The War and Treaty
In 2016, Tanya released an album called Love Affair with her husband, Michael Trotter Jr. They released it as "Trotter and Blount". That same year, they started a new band called The War and Treaty. Their song "Hi Ho" was called a "break out soul hit".
In 2017, The War and Treaty released an EP (a shorter album) called Down to the River. This EP mixed different music styles like blues, gospel, soul, and country. It was praised as a "splendidly made immediate classic".
Their first full album, Healing Tide, came out in 2018. It was described as having a "joyfully relentless" sound. In 2020, they released their second album, Hearts Town. The War and Treaty continues to release new music and perform.
