Stagecoach is a small town in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. In 2020, about 580 people lived there.

History of Stagecoach

In the 1800s, the area that is now Stagecoach was a stop on a stagecoach route. A stagecoach was like an old bus pulled by horses. It carried people and mail between towns.

Later, farms were started in this area. One of these farms belonged to W. L. Swinley. In 1958, the Stagecoach residential development was built on this land. This was the start of the modern town.

In the 1960s, a local club for the community opened. In 1974, the people even elected an unofficial mayor. By 1980, there were 108 homes in the community. That same year, Stagecoach officially became a town. The town continued to grow, reaching 340 people in 1990 and 455 in 2000.

Geography and Location

Stagecoach is located in Texas at coordinates 30.142858 degrees North and 95.711232 degrees West.

The town covers about 1.2 square miles (3.1 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.

Many of the street names in Stagecoach tell a story about its past. Some names you might see are "Boot Hill," "Broken Spoke," "Cimarron," "Indian Springs," "Old Coach," "Silver Spur," "Surrey," "Tomahawk," and "Wagon Wheel." These names remind people of the old West and stagecoach days.

Stagecoach also has two man-made lakes, Lake Apache and Lake Hardin. These lakes are along Sulphur Creek.
