Stallo (also called Maurine) is a small community in Neshoba County, Mississippi, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that are not part of an official city or town government. Stallo is about 10 miles (16 km) north of Philadelphia.

Stallo: A Small Community in Mississippi
Stallo is a quiet place located in the state of Mississippi. It's known as an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger Neshoba County.
History of Stallo
Stallo has an interesting past. For a few years, from 1905 to 1908, it was known by a different name: Maurine.
- In 1910, Stallo was a busy place with several businesses. It had three sawmills, which cut wood, along with two general stores where people could buy many different things. There was also a drugstore and a hardware store for tools and building supplies.
- The community was once located along the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad. This railroad was important for moving goods and people a long time ago.
- Stallo even had its own post office for many years, from 1908 until 1953. A post office is where people send and receive mail. During those 45 years, five different people worked as the postmaster, who was in charge of the post office.
Community Services
Today, Stallo has a volunteer fire department. This department helps keep the community safe by responding to fires and other emergencies. It's made up of people who volunteer their time to help others.
Famous People from Stallo
One notable person who grew up in Stallo is James Young. He was raised on a farm in this community. Later in his life, James Young made history by becoming the first African-American mayor of Philadelphia, Mississippi. A mayor is the leader of a city's government.
