Early Life and College Basketball
Stan Kimbrough was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He grew to be 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 meters) tall and weighed about 153 pounds (69 kg). He played basketball in college at two different universities. First, he attended the University of Central Florida. Later, he went to Xavier University.
During his four years playing college basketball, Stan Kimbrough was a fantastic scorer. He managed to score a total of 2,103 points. This is a very impressive number of points for a college player!
Playing in the NBA
After college, Stan Kimbrough got the chance to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The NBA is the top professional basketball league in the world. He played 10 games for the Detroit Pistons during the 1989–90 season.
In 1990, he signed with the Golden State Warriors. However, he was waived (released) by the team just a week later, before the next season started. He later played three more games in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings in 1992.
Continental Basketball Association
Besides his time in the NBA, Kimbrough also played for four seasons in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). The CBA was another professional basketball league in the United States. He played for several teams in the CBA.
His teams included the Grand Rapids Hoops, Oklahoma City Cavalry, Yakima Sun Kings, La Crosse Catbirds, and Rochester Renegade. In his CBA career, he played 138 games. He averaged 9.7 points and 5.2 assists per game.
Life After Basketball
Today, Stan Kimbrough helps young basketball players. He runs his own basketball camp for kids and teens. His camp is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. He uses his experience to teach young people about the game.
