A Look at Stanfield's History

Stanfield became an official town in 1912. This happened when a new railroad line was finished, connecting the cities of Charlotte and Raleigh. The town was named after an engineer who played a big part in building this important railroad through the area.

Once the railroad was complete, mail could be delivered directly to Stanfield by train. This led to the post office moving from a nearby town called Locust to Stanfield.

Over time, several local schools joined together to create Stanfield School. Later, in the 1970s, Pete Henkel Park was built, giving residents a place to play and relax.

Today, Stanfield School is known as Stanfield Elementary School. It teaches students from pre-kindergarten up to the fifth grade. After elementary school, students usually go to West Stanly High School in Red Cross, Stanly Early College in Albemarle, or Gray Stone Day School in Misenheimer for their high school education.
