Did you know that some of your favorite Star Wars movies were also turned into manga? Manga are Japanese comic books. Between 1998 and 1999, a company called Dark Horse Comics created manga versions of four Star Wars films. These included the original movie, A New Hope (from 1977), The Empire Strikes Back (from 1980), Return of the Jedi (from 1983), and Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (from 1999).

Star Wars Manga Adaptations
These manga versions let fans experience the classic Star Wars stories in a new way. For the English versions, the art was sometimes flipped. This was done so the books could be read from left to right, just like comics in Western countries.
A New Hope Manga
This manga series tells the story of A New Hope. It has four volumes.

- Volume 1: Luke Skywalker meets Obi-Wan Kenobi and the droids. Luke's home is destroyed.
- Volume 2: Luke meets Han Solo and they begin their journey to the Death Star.
- Volume 3: Events on the Death Star happen, and Obi-Wan passes away.
- Volume 4: The thrilling attack on the Death Star takes place.
The Empire Strikes Back Manga
The manga for The Empire Strikes Back also comes in four volumes.

- Volume 1: The exciting Battle of Hoth takes place.
- Volume 2: Luke travels to Dagobah and meets Yoda.
- Volume 3: Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO arrive at Cloud City.
- Volume 4: Han is frozen in carbonite, and Luke faces Darth Vader.
Return of the Jedi Manga
This manga series covers the events of Return of the Jedi in four volumes.

- Volume 1: Everyone is captured by Jabba the Hutt.
- Volume 2: The heroes escape from Jabba and head to Dagobah.
- Volume 3: They visit the Ewok village, and Luke is captured.

The Phantom Menace Manga
The manga for The Phantom Menace is a shorter series with two volumes.
