What Happens in Starcross?

Arthur and Myrtle's Adventure Begins
The story follows a boy named Arthur Mumby, who everyone calls Art. His older sister, Myrtle, is also a main character. They get an invitation to visit a special hotel called Starcross. This hotel is located on a small asteroid. This asteroid sometimes becomes completely empty.
Art's mother, Emily, starts to think something strange is happening. She believes the Starcross hotel is built on a piece of Mars. This piece of Mars seems to slip through a hole in time! Later, Myrtle makes a shocking discovery. She finds out that Sir Richard Burton and his Martian wife, Ulla, have been turned into trees.
New Friends and Mysterious Moobs
Soon, a character named Jack Havock shows up. He is now a secret agent for the British government. He is disguised as an Indian prince.
That night, strange creatures attack them. These creatures are called Moobs. They look like animated black top hats. The Moobs take control of Jack's crew and many other guests. This includes Art's mother, Emily.
Myrtle and Jack manage to escape. But they get lost in the deserts of ancient Mars. There, they meet Delphine. She is another guest from the hotel. Delphine is a French secret agent. She wants to find her grandfather's crashed spaceship. She hopes to create a new country in his name.
Discovering the Moobs' Secrets
At the spaceship wreck, they learn a sad truth. Delphine's grandfather was killed by Moobs. They also find out more about the Moobs themselves. These creatures come from a time near the end of the universe. They mostly survive by eating other species' thoughts.
A friendly Moob helps Jack. He convinces Delphine's soldiers to join their side. They all head back to the Starcross hotel.
The Final Showdown
Back at Starcross, the Moobs are planning something big. They load Jack's spaceship with more of their kind. Their goal is to take control of all the societies nearby.
Art manages to free Jack's crew from the Moobs' control. They all return to Starcross. They find that Art's mother, Emily, has a lot of memories. These memories are enough to satisfy the Moobs. She has managed to calm them down.
The owner of Starcross, Sir Launcelot Sprigg, and Delphine try to take over. But Art's mother uses her powers. She changes them both into babies!
The main characters then travel into the future. They give the Moobs new and exciting thoughts. This makes the Moobs more active and happy. After all this, Jack challenges Myrtle. She decides to study cold fusion. This is a special way to power space travel. Also, Professor Ferny, a plant-like creature, promises to find a way to cure Sir Richard and Ulla. He wants to change them back from trees.
