What's the Story?
Meet the Starflyers Team
The main character is Katherine Diane Cadell. She's a regular girl, but in her imagination, she's the brave space hero, Katie Cadet! Her best friend, Ajay, becomes Super Spinner AJ. They team up with an alien dog named Io and a space robot called Klanker. Together, they go on exciting missions across the galaxy.
Their main enemy is the evil Vexar. In real life, Vexar is just Victor Wexlar, the neighborhood bully!
Galactic Missions
In Starflyers Royal Jewel Rescue, Katie Cadet needs to find Princess Popcorn's missing jewels. This is like her real-life quest to find her mom's scattered jewels.
In Starflyers Alien Space Chase, Katie Cadet has to rescue missing ambassadors from across the galaxy. Vexar has kidnapped them! This mission is based on Victor Wexlar letting class pets loose at school. Katie Cadet is known as the galaxy's best star pilot. She uses a special vehicle called the "SnoozeCruiser" to travel with her team.
How to Play
Adventure and Arcade Fun
Both Starflyers games combine adventure and arcade-style challenges. You get to play 8 different mini-games in each game. These mini-games have three difficulty levels, so you can choose how challenging you want them to be.
To move forward in the game, you need to collect "Galaxy Seeds." Think of them as the game's money! The game also has a special menu where you can keep tools and items you find. You use these items when you discover the right place for them. Plus, there are fun activities you can print out and do offline!
How the Games Were Made
Bringing the Characters to Life
The main artist, Fred Dinada, designed Katie Cadet in 2001. Some of his ideas came from other projects he had worked on. Other companies like Cat & Dog Productions and Igloo Animations also helped with the artwork.
Gerald Broas drew some of the detailed line art by hand. He used a pencil to draw the backgrounds and characters. All the images were changed to use fewer colors so they could fit on the game CD. This helped make sure the games ran smoothly.
