Stefan Bradl, born on November 29, 1989, is a professional motorcycle racer from Germany. He is famous for winning the Moto2 World Championship in 2011. After that, he joined the top racing class, MotoGP, in 2012 with the LCR Honda team.

In MotoGP, one of his most memorable races was at Laguna Seca in 2013. He started from the very front (called 'pole position') and finished second, right behind the legendary Marc Marquez and ahead of Valentino Rossi. Even though he missed two races because of an injury, Stefan finished the 2013 season in 7th place. This was his best-ever finish in MotoGP.

Stefan's father, Helmut Bradl, was also a famous racer. Today, Stefan works as a test rider for Honda Racing Corporation in MotoGP. This means he helps develop and improve the bikes. He also sometimes races as a 'wild card' or fills in when other riders are injured.

Stefan Bradl's Racing Journey

Early Career: 125cc Races (2005–2009)

Stefan Bradl was born in Augsburg, West Germany. He started his 125cc World Championship career in 2005. He raced in three events as a 'wild card' entry with KTM. He continued to race as a wild card in 2006. During practice for the 2006 Malaysian GP, he had a serious accident and broke a bone. But he recovered and was back racing later that year.

In 2007, Stefan joined the 125cc Spanish Championship with Blusens Aprilia. He won the championship by just five points! He also raced in a few World Championship events with the same team.

For the 2008 season, Stefan joined the German Grizzly Gas Kiefer Racing team. He rode an official factory Aprilia RSA 125 bike. He won his first race in Brno, which was special because his father had also won there in 1991.

Moto2 Champion (2010–2011)

In 2010, Stefan moved up to the Moto2 class. He finished ninth in the championship and won one race at Estoril.

The year 2011 was amazing for Stefan. He won four of the first six races! He had a big lead in the championship for a while. Then, Marc Márquez started to catch up quickly. The championship was very close with only two races left. However, Marc Márquez had a bad fall during practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix. He couldn't race for the rest of the season because of problems with his eyesight. Because of this, Stefan Bradl became the Moto2 World Champion at the final race in Valencia, Spain.

MotoGP Adventures (2012–2016)

LCR Honda (2012–2014)

Stefan joined the LCR Honda team for the 2012 MotoGP season. He had a good year, often finishing in the top 10. His best result was fourth place at the Italian Grand Prix. He ended the season in eighth place and won the 'Rookie of the Year' award, which is given to the best new rider.

In 2013, Stefan often battled with other top riders like Valentino Rossi and Cal Crutchlow. The best part of his season was getting 'pole position' (starting first) at the United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. He also finished second in that race, which was his first time on the podium in MotoGP. Later in the season, he broke his ankle in a crash at the Malaysian Grand Prix. This meant he missed some races. He finished the season in seventh place.

Stefan continued with LCR Honda in 2014. But in August 2014, it was announced that Cal Crutchlow would join the team for 2015. So, Stefan decided to move to the Forward Racing team for the 2015 season.

Athinà Forward Racing (2015)

For 2015, Stefan Bradl moved to Forward Racing. He rode a Yamaha Forward bike. By the middle of the season, he had scored 9 points. He missed his home race in Germany due to an injury. After the summer break, Stefan left the team.

Aprilia Racing Team Gresini (2015–2016)

In August 2015, Stefan joined Aprilia Gresini Racing for the rest of the season. His first race with them was at Indianapolis. He scored his first points for the team by finishing 14th at Brno.

In 2016, Stefan raced alongside Spanish rider Álvaro Bautista. He scored 63 points that season. He finished 16th overall.

Superbike World Championship (2017)

In 2017, Stefan moved from MotoGP to the Superbike World Championship. He rode a Honda for the RedBull Honda Team. He raced in 6 full events and 4 half-events. He scored 67 points and finished 14th in the championship.

In 2020, Stefan became a replacement rider for Marc Márquez from the Czech Republic race onwards. Marc Márquez was recovering from injuries he got in a crash in August at the Spanish Grand Prix.

In 2021, Stefan continued to replace the injured Marc Márquez at the start of the season. He finished 11th and 14th in two races at Losail, Doha. Stefan also had a wild card race in 2021 at Jerez, where he finished 12th.

In 2022, during the third race of the season in Argentina, Stefan finished 19th. He was filling in for Marc Márquez, who was injured in March.

In 2023, Stefan continued his role as a test rider and replacement. He raced in several events, including the Americas, Spanish, Dutch, Indian, and Japanese Grand Prix. He scored 8 points that year.
