Stefan Hierländer's Club Journey
Hierländer began his football journey at his local club, SV Greifenburg. From 2002 to 2007, he played for SV Spittal/Drau. Later, from 2008 to 2010, he joined SK Austria Kärnten in the Austrian Football Bundesliga.
His first game with the main team was on March 18, 2009. He played against Sturm Graz, coming in as a substitute. After Kärnten faced issues and lost its license for the 2010–11 season, Hierländer signed with Red Bull Salzburg.
On May 31, 2014, he signed a two-year contract with RB Leipzig. This was a new step in his career.
A big moment came on May 9, 2018. Hierländer scored the only goal in a match where Sturm Graz beat Red Bull Salzburg. This win in extra time secured the 2017–18 Austrian Cup for Sturm Graz.
Playing for Austria: International Career
Hierländer was first called to join the senior Austria squad in September 2017. This happened when another player, Guido Burgstaller, had to leave due to an injury. Hierländer was called for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying games.
He made his official debut for the national team on March 27, 2018. Austria won that game 4–0 against Luxembourg.
