Stephen Avenue Place is a tall building in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It has offices and shops inside. The building is located at 700 2nd Street SW. It stands 155 metres (509 feet) high. This is about as tall as 41 floors. When it was finished, it was the tallest building in Calgary.
About Stephen Avenue Place
This building was once called the Scotia Centre. A company named Slate Asset Management bought it in March 2018. They are now making many changes to the building. This project will update the shops and other areas.
What's Inside?
The lower part of the building has three floors of shops. These areas are being updated. The project will also add new features for people who work there. Three new restaurants will open in the building. These restaurants will be run by Concorde Group and Oliver & Bonacini.
Why the Name?
Stephen Avenue Place is named after a very important person. His name was George Stephen. He was the first Baron Mount Stephen. George Stephen was a smart businessman. He helped create the Canadian Pacific Railway. This railway was a huge project for Canada. The building is named in his honor.
