About Sterling Tower
The Sterling Tower was designed by the architects Chapman and Oxley. It was finished in 1928. For one year, this building was the tallest in Toronto! Then, the Royal York Hotel was built, which was even taller.
Henry Falk, a businessman from New York, helped build the Sterling Tower. He worked with a local company called Yolles & Rotenberg. The Sterling Tower was built during a time when many new buildings were going up in Toronto. This period was known as Toronto's late 1920s building boom.
A Special Building
The Sterling Tower is considered a very special building in Toronto. On August 18, 1976, the City Council of Toronto recognized it. They named it a Heritage Property. This means the building is important for its history and design. It is protected so it can be preserved for the future.
