In 1875, a man named Isiah Stetson built the first sawmill in the town. A sawmill is a place where logs are cut into lumber. The town was later named after him, becoming Stetsonville.

For many years, people in Stetsonville got their water from private wells. But in the 1980s, some of these wells became unsafe due to pollution. It was very hard to clean up the source of the pollution. So, in 2010, the village created a municipal water system. This means the village now provides clean water to all its homes. They received help from various groups, including the DNR and the USDA.
